The modernization of educational standards has become a central component of Uzbekistan’s efforts to improve the quality and relevance of its education system. As part of the Uzbekistan Education for Excellence Program (UEEP), supported by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Education, comprehensive educational standards were developed for primary mathematics and mother tongue education in Grades 1–4, as well as Informatics and Information Technologies for Grades 1–11. This article examines the methodology, processes, and outcomes of the standards development initiative, highlighting the use of international benchmarking, expert review mechanisms, and collaborative revision processes. The study demonstrates how evidence-based curriculum development contributed to the establishment of competency-oriented educational standards aligned with international best practices while reflecting the national context of Uzbekistan.
